Health and Medicine II is the A2 medical branch for tools, records, instruments, controlled procedures, and clinical-support systems that go beyond household care but do not yet require a full modern hospital network. It sits between A1 practical medicine and A4 advanced clinical practice.
At A2, the emphasis is not heroic improvisation. The emphasis is recognizable equipment, trained operators, written protocols, calibration habits, infection control, patient records, supply tracking, and the ability to maintain useful systems without pretending that every modern intervention can be recreated locally.
This branch should collect subjects such as medical imaging, basic clinical instrumentation, sterilization support, oxygen and respiratory equipment maintenance, simple laboratory support, and salvageable medical devices. A document belongs here when it requires manufactured equipment, reliable power, measurements, or trained operation, but can still be understood as a practical system rather than a frontier research platform.
Medical work becomes much more dangerous when tools outpace training. A2 medical pages should therefore explain what a device is for, what its hazards are, what signs show it is working or failing, what records must be kept, and when a task belongs to licensed or formally trained personnel.
Clinical tools are systems, not isolated objects. Power, shielding, sterilization, calibration, consumables, operator training, disposal, documentation, and referral pathways all matter.
Salvage is part of the A2 story. Many communities may inherit equipment before they can manufacture it. Useful knowledge includes recognizing parts, preserving manuals, storing equipment safely, testing only within safe limits, and knowing when a device should be retired.
This branch supports clinics, aid stations, repair teams, public-health planners, medical librarians, and technical trainers who need to preserve the operational knowledge around medical equipment without encouraging unsafe treatment or diagnosis.
